Welcome to the very first edition of the ESWAM eMagazine! This publication marks another step of an exciting journey, one that began back in September 2022 during a memorable trip to Denmark. Representatives from the cities of Aalborg, Antwerp, Copenhagen and Rotterdam came together for the first time, and it was here that the foundation for the ESWAM was laid. What started as a city exchange laid the foundation of the ESWAM: to connect European cities more deeply through the themes of sports and wellbeing. That trip was more than just a meeting; it was a spark that ignited a cross-border collaboration. Sports and wellbeing became the perfect lens through which to explore what we can achieve when we work together. Since then, the goal has been clear: to bring this exchange further into the organizations and communities. Through the ESWAM, we’re not just exchanging ideas; we’re building an alliance. An alliance that supports eachother, shares resources, taps into funding opportunities and creates real, tangible impact. This eMagazine is one of the ways we aim to inspire and inform, bringing fresh perspectives and practical insights to everyone involved. It’s a way to connect the dots between cities, organizations and individuals who are passionate about making a difference.
In this first edition, you’ll find nine articles that reflect the diversity and creativity of our collaboration. From thought-provoking insights to practical advice and innovative ideas, each piece is a contribution to the power of working together. These articles aren’t just for reading, they’re for sparking new ideas and encouraging dialogue across borders. Whether you’re new to the ESWAM or have been involved since the start, this magazine is for you. It’s for anyone who believes in the power of sports and wellbeing to transform communities and create connections that transcend boundaries. Together, we’re building something bigger than any single city or organization. So, take your time to explore these stories, and let them inspire you to think about what’s possible. This is just the beginning, and there’s so much more to come. For now, grab a coffee (or tea or water), get comfy, and enjoy the read!
